Does it matter? they have lied about a lot of things, if they did lie about this one would it change anything if people found out?

The American Government lie about anything that benefits them at the time and later always apologize if they are caught. The world ought to be used to this by now.

Terrorists attacked a US Embassy outpost in Libya 9/11/11, attack took almost ten hours, and every force in the area was ordered to not respond. Pres. Obama and SecState Clinton lied to the American people and claimed it was a protest. A US Ambassador and several CIA officers (former SpecOps) who responded to fight off the attack were killed, during the initial attack and the follow-up attack at a CIA safehouse. Now people are coming forward and saying, in effect, "We were told to let them die" and "We said it was an attack, not a protest."
