Had somehow an easy start. Used the same delay kills technic of the 'Win without any Hero contest'
Finished my 3rd lvl7 lumber mill at minute 30. And for a few seconds, didn't finished the 4th before stealer :P

Nightmare, No Air, Invisible

I used nothing outside of the hideout base and as I changed my inventory on my builder, so I missed malignant virus aswell, which made me dependent on my hero's skills to kill most creeps.

It gave a bit of trouble but I managed without staling to much.

You should skip to replay after behemoth, as I went for Eternia. I forgot I didn't put air on at that point so I felt pretty stupid when she didn't spawn. :P

Not to derail the thread with a non-submission post, but it looks like quite a few people are soloing freaking nightmare with only two lvl7s and a few lvl5s. Has there been some new strategy uncovered that makes the game a lot easier, or are my skills just really that sub-par? I clearly gotta improve on my Mad difficulty submission before I submit it.

@englocked: I watched your replay, and I really like your strategy. People build fast with customized heroes while those heroes are also strong fighter types with chaos weapon. You probably wouldn't have time to upgrade your walls while trying to deal with the strong damage from later bosses and focus on airs if you allow hero or units to kill the earlier ones. I'm upset for not seeing you try to kill Eternia if you can come up with a plan... arm up your sniper maybe?... However, I really like your replay for I think I can learn it much faster and easier than dying hard to get 3 lvl 7 mills before 30 minutes remaining time (If my goal is to survive soloing nm)... especially while the new melee hero cannot stand the damage from impossible and nightmare, and that ruled out using hero to reduce the stress to upgrade walls. . .

Well is there another strategy available in this base?

Posted 04 June 2015 - 01:13 PM

Do you have play in singleplayer or what i don't quite understand the concept

You can play in singleplayer or online with other players. However do take note that playing with other players means that you will get less mobs/bosses at your base which will rank you lower than players that solo for the competition. This is the reason why almost all submissions are solo submissions for a higher chance to win.

Well... originally i tried to do it fancy way... but seems like its a waste of time in nightmare...
WC3ScrnShot_060115_035643_01.jpg WC3ScrnShot_060115_035647_02.jpg

Then tried to play normally following Textbook's ABC.....still... seems like sniper clearing speed is too slow and the boss are casting spells non stop...WC3ScrnShot_060515_034707_01.jpg

In the end i played normally...

Try to achieve what englo did, ie. beating nm air inv with nothing but a -claim (which is just to build since it's 2 ridiculous snipers), even with stalling. You'll realize it's much harder than it seems (even though I agree the stalling technique should be removed from the game, I actually asked that a long time ago, but that would need another topic)

its a valid strategy and the entire map is the playground, why would we hate stalling?

i just object to stalling because its incredibly inefficcient use of time, but that doesnt mean it should be illegal...

Hey, here's a little different approach to the "Defend The Hideout". Offence is the best defence, right? ;)

The Hideout / Nightmare / Air / Invis / NO WALLS / Eternia killed

- Found 4 lumbermills + manapot worth 1g as easters + endurance aura from The Harbors Dead Warrior

In game ID: KeXi

Defending The Hideout using trainable units, mostly melee. The tactic isn't new, but rarely used in smaller bases.

Just to make it clear, I didn't play that round alone, but cleared everything that dared to walk close enough to The Hideout.

Also, left my base like one time just to go help kill Trojan, Najor and Behemoth, meanwhile creeps took care of my base which was left alone, doh.. <_<.

Well, in that point assassin was itemized and strong enough to take care of anything and we finished eternia middle together, saving the killing blow for the current new Elemental Stone owner ^_^.

First some base design, lumbering and units

Hideout1.jpg Hideout2.jpg Hideout3.jpg Hideout4.jpg

Then some of the last bosses till Trojan

Hideout4b.jpg Hideout4c.jpg Hideout5.jpg Hideout5b.jpg

I think it was right after The Najort, when I realize whats happening in my base, Went to clear and fast back for The Behemoth :D

How the finall Hideout looked like just before going down, what a space miracle :)

After Behemoth my base went down and we played with some small spawns of endless and finished last items and fought our way to The Eternia

Hideout10e.jpg Hideout6.jpg Hideout7.jpg Hideout8.jpg Hideout9.jpg

The Eternia didn't give much of a challenge for Shinkels Shoryuken!, yes you heard right, SHORYUKEN!!

Hideout10.jpg Hideout10bb.jpg Hideout10c.jpg

This accomplishment was tried countless of times in private solo games and public ent-hosted games, and probably wouldn't had yet successed without easter eggs (early speedups) and teamwork (sharing bosses for example).

For the future, I'll at least try it without any easter eggs and with or without the sharing of creeps and will post a new participation if succeeded :)

Thank you for viewing.

(PS. In replay after killing The Eternia, rest is just fooling around)
