Recently,i submitted an entry in "Heroes are not for everyone"....in this entry, I tried to build mass sentry statue to summon hundreds of paratroopers...

 

My suggestion is simple

 

i found that the paratroopers are under control of Fortress Defenders which means that my upgrade process does not affect paratroopers.

 

Also, they dont even seem upgradeable? i hope they can be upgraded and controllable.

 

I tried in normal difficulty but  with my hundreds of paratroopers.. still they take long time to defeat even one kind of boss :(

 

i guess giving them an opportunity to upgrade will make well-balanced to higher difficulty.

 

Therefore, I guess Sentry statue will be one of the most creative strategies to challenge if this suggestion is accepted.

1 player play with this strategy can beat Mad, Ground, Vis, 1X already, while paratroopers can be summoned without extra cost except the sentry post upgrade itself. There's no point to make it stronger if people can abuse it on lower difficulties. (Anonymous: I don't need to beat you by total-lumber-production or offend you with low-EQ presentations. I can simply ruin your game with paratroopers!? I'll find ways to make fatal error with unnecessary resource consumption...). How about possible ways to balance the idea? If we make paratroopers controllable, we need to give it a cool-down/survival time just like the Call-in-paratroopers Ability, otherwise unlimited stacking can kill any boss in seconds. Also, to make it even stronger/upgradable upon its existing stats, we need to include those summoned units in total-food-count. Also, more researches like "Futuristic Technology" should be invented to unlock max upgrades of paratroopers to balance the cost vs. value while comparing to Mercenaries. For example: levels of extra researches like... "Potency (?) level 1 (cost ?gold + ?lumber): increase max upgradable weapon/armor level to 5 (while mercenaries can upgrade without restriction...20 max)" ... Paratroopers can be unique or a bit stronger than mercenary units such as marines while taking the build_time, CD_time, and build_space in consideration.

 

Well, just some idea.
