I currently play a lot of Dota 2 and apparently, 'thousands' of custom map games from Warcraft III will be released on Dota 2. Would you guys make it for Dota 2 if it was possible?
Thanks!

..would we make a silly port for dota 2 when we're going to make an entire standalone game? #3Posted 19 February 2015 - 04:45 PM
Hello Waffle,
First of all: excuse me that I revive this old topic, but I really want to encourage you and your team to rebuild FS on the Dota 2 engine. The Source 3 engine and the official custom map support from Valve will be released this year and its just about time to jump in and give FS a fresh boost. You ask why you should leap to the Dota 2 Client? Well:
- Alot of old WC III Players are playing Dota 2, you have an audience! - You have a stable + modable engine and tools ready up to be used: https://developer.va..._Workshop_Tools - The source Engine has more details than the WC III Engine (Physics etc.) - Dota once started as a WC III mod and now its a standalone product financed by Valve with the old WC III dev. Getting attention with this map might get you a standalone project. - The mod community is REALLLY nice.
Projects have to evolve and go forward, this would be a really good step for Fortress Survival. Take a look at the current situation, then you might have a better overview about It. Here is a link of an Mod Community: http://paral.in/the-d2moddin-project/the Admin worked on big projects, a chat with him might be interesting for you.
I really want you and your team to rethink the situation and decide again.
best regards
zeWeeknd

My skills at this area are arround zero - otherwise I would start a FS project with your permission, you got some experience in moddin which gonna help you to workout the mod at the Source engine. Thats why I said you should take a look at the community and have a chat with the modders who can tell you more with their experience.
Quote from a modder: "You want to make your own mods? Do it now! It never has been as easy as today" - posted about Septembre last year. B #6Posted 20 February 2015 - 10:23 AM
The only way I can see this happening if we were to find reliable developers that actually were willing to re-develop the game into Dota 2. It would take many months to do this and would require more effort than most imagine. That being said, we would need more than people just expressing interest... we already have a starcraft 2 project that shared the same interest yet is quite far from being playable or ready for BETA. Any Developers are welcome to contact me and get this going. 9 user(s) are reading this topic0 members, 9 guests, 0 anonymous users |
