Get at least 8 GBS of ram. Get an SSD hard drive. Don't buy a cheap motherboard because everything will run better with a nice motherboard. What games are you mainly going to be playing on it and what else are you trying to do on it other than gaming?  If your on a budget of 1000 your going to want to get an AMD CPU/GPU.  Also when you say build do you mean you are going to buy the individual parts and assemble it yourself?

Yeah man i intend on building it myself and buying the parts seperately i figure i can do it alot cheaper that way and im confident i could put together realitively easily. Gonna play mostly RTS games such as Rome Total war 2 as well as Starcraft 2 etc, Also going to use it for sound engineering and mixing with programs like Protools and reaper etc, and everyday use like word documents, internet browsing etc. basically just want an all-rounder with enough guts to handle the epic maps of rome total war 2 on max settings. Thanks btw. :)

You should check out WWW.newegg.com It's a good site where you can buy everything you need for your computer build with good warranty policies. You should go with AMD graphics and CPU because you are going to get more bang for your buck and you are on a pretty tight budget for making a gaming computer.

Make sure that you get a tower that is big enough for everything to fit comfortably Motherboard/Graphics card/cpu cooler ETC... Have you thought about if you want Liquid cooling for your Computer or not? I personally didn't go with Liquid cooling and just have 5 fans + my Cpu cooler in my tower. You should get an SSD hard drive I promise you won't be disappointed if you do. If you can find a 120 GB SDD hard drive for relatively cheap that would be the best because 60 GB/75 GB SDD hard drives won't have enough space. I would use 2 different hard drives if you can afford it, put all your games on your SDD hard drive + Operating system and then anything else you want on the other one.

Somewhere along the line you have to consider how powerful your Computer is going to be as you find the things you want because you need to make sure that you have at least 100 more watts than you need for your PSU... so if your build is going to need 500 watts of power to run comfortably you should get get a 650 watt PSU so that it doesn't get overloaded and so that if you decide you want to upgrade it can handle any new hardware you put in it.     Leave any questions you have there's a lot more stuff I could have gone into
