stun lumber mills

Hey..

I was kind of writing in another topic (should bots be buffed,rep units nerfed etc.)
...
<insert long story here>
..
nightmare was deemed too easy and i got few ideas to spice it up tongue.gif
  • BOSSES:
    • one that can stun lumbermills
    • one that has permanent "big bad woodo" and high hp low damage
    • one that can remove 90% of a walls max hp
    • one that can remove 90% of all walls current hp
  • ENVIRONMENT:
    • random invulnerable critters all over the map that block building placement and move around.
    • randomly give all critters near a base 999 extra armor and 999hp raw regen
    • just plain stun all of a players units for 3 sec.
    • randomly kill 1 non-wall building (except combined lumber)
    • you can give/remove abilities with trigers right... well remove a repair units or bots repair ability ..


I think it would be unwise to torture players with ALL of these.. but just a few to add to the challenge smile.gif

well, i love your idea except for remove wall hp..

maybe if only 50% good

    • one that can remove 90% of all walls current hp I like this idea better. If we do add it, the boss Divine will cast this as a spell. But for balance 80% should be the highest. It would have mana cost + interruptable casting time too.

I think it would be unwise to torture players with ALL of these.. but just a few to add to the challenge smile.gifIt would definitely turn NM into a ragefest if we were to add the random events, but your ability ideas are great.

Just remember that we want to attract new players so dont make it so difficult that even a new player cant win.

I like a lot of these ideas. And i disagree with That_Girl... Nightmare mode should not be "too difficult" especially for a new player to win. New players should have to work their way up slowly, not be able to beat the hardest difficulty without much time put into the game at all.

I am all for making the game much harder as the difficulties increase. Fortress survival was at its best when most "pros" couldn't beat the hardest mode without a lot of practice and strategy.

This is NIGHTMARE mode we are talking about.

If a noob can beat it on 3rd try ever playing then there is something SERIOUSLY WRONG!

Every game i join or make its always on nightmare with invis and air the new people that join die instantly and so do the players that have already played 20-50 games. Sick of being the last person alive hoarding all the revived souls in my base getting up to 700 kills. Its not right.

Im with brain on this one, nightmare is supposed to be an experienced player's challenge,
i liked it better when it was hard as hell tbh.

hall of fame status should not be so easily obtained.

But why do we have easy mode at all then?
Its darn easy to win, beating NM is barely worth mentioning these days :'(
back in 4.** days people always played normal all the time and would get all mad at u when u tried something harder because it was like suicide. what normal was then is what impossible is now..

Also many people are just waiting out the game in some other blokes game for the exp..
This actually isn't as bad as it sounds .. when you stay the game you see what they do and how they do something. so you actually become a better player from it(gain real exp too not just the stat)

I do think that running to somebody else's base (even without revive) should NOT be set as equal to actually beating the game.
(if you don't beat the game in the base you chose to base in you should get reduced exp (and no roar/wings))

EDIT: i promised some ideas... and here they are!
  • Before game (first 10 min) everybody must choose their base.
  • for everybody that does not choose a base the base their worker is currently in will be chosen.
  • exp will be split among the sharing players.
  • you can not -choose a base that you can not build in.
  • -exile and -unshare within the 10 minute limit will void the players selection that has chosen your base.
  • players with no selection or who are outside their chosen base will get SEVERELY reduced exp.
    • 30% of everybody who has that base -chosen as primary.
    • when solo in non-primary base you can still get some exp altho not very good. (most likely accident or late move)
  • only applies to modes MAD and up.
  • possible formula for sharing reduction (1.00+0.10)/N
    • 1 player:110%
    • 2 players: 60%
    • 3 players: 43% etc
    • 4 players:35%
    • 5 players: 30%
  • When you have spent less than 50% of the last 15 minutes in your chosen game you can not get Wings,Roar.

Velro when i got into hall of fame so did 6 other people because they were sitting in my base and surviving on NM with invis and air and one of the players was his first time playing Niwa was also in the game how is that not easy enough. Waffle i agree on all your poins but they seem to have been afk in my base hardly observing maybe make a whole different mode so when the nightmare mode gets picked each player has the choice to turn on Godlike mode for them self and it just makes buildings take longer walls slightly weaker and so forth so when you pick normal it can still be like your playing on nightmare for your self but other players are practising on normal just some thoughts.

The good ol' times. I think I never saw anybody playing on impos back then..
Im agreeing with you and brain, nightmare is too easy and not a challenge at all when you play with a lumberer. Players get alot more lumber since we implemented tiny lumber mills/alch/lvl5-6-7 mills.

Its the most played mode atm, I rarely play impos/mad anymore. Sometimes normal when the host is a new guy. And at least 3 players always go to cottage and teambase lol (Sidenote: Changed the cottage... couldnt split it into 2 bases so it now has 2 entrances. Top part is still the same tho)

Game is only getting easier. The additional things such as bookshelves, special items, tiny lumbermills/alch/lvl5-6-7 mills, and heros are a great idea. But it is as if we are getting an extreme amount of extra help, while the creeps are not, which is why the point of this topic listed in Waffle's first post is a great idea.

However, I am also all for just making creeps a lot harder to defeat, especially in nightmare mode. It should be almost impossible to beat, even for experienced players

I agree with braineater. I think the enemies should be made harder rather than the survivors which are already sooo strong :P
