1. w3m = open based web browser?

2. Warcraft was released in 2002 I believe.

3. JNGP = Jass Newgen Pack.. using for keeping the editor up to date.

4. vJass.. I'm thinking Very Jass, as vJass allows us to do some pretty awesome things.

5. ZINC?.. Well it's an element lol.

6. I am in the FS cummonity chat.

7. We keep our files in a cloud called Sugar Sync, everyone on the team has access to these files.

8. EST?.. Eastern Standard Time? lol.

9. I forgot how many cores he has after the multiple times he has told me XD But his server can host just about anything!

10. Game breaking bug.. we fixed so many.  But it could be the lumber system, the pretty flower, or the Beheomth Wings bug

11. A halo site where he played Halo: CE multiplayer but thats all I know / remember
12. He is a legend in terms of wc3 coding and developed the codeless save and load along with other very useful and complex systems. The codeless save / load was implemented in FS for a while but it caused problems which could not be avoided with the setup back then [E.g. The system had to preload data at the beginning of a match which froze the game and players would have needed to wait like 1-2minutes which is just way too long].

Oh boy a trivia with no questions that someone who just plays fs will be able to answer at all so I'll probably get them all wrong!
Assuming I didn't cheat by Googling or using other peoples my answers would be about this wrong.

  14. I think some guy taught me about this. A memory leak is like lag except lag is server based and memory leaks are computer based. Memory leaks can happen from overuse of stuff like spells like with the old lumbering system.

14. A memory leak occurs when an action is performed, but the data is not dealt with after the action is finished. In a warcraft map, this can occur when a trigger is not destroyed after its use, meaning that if the trigger is part of a spell, then every time you cast that spell, the memory leak grows more severe. This can lead to lag.

16. Hardware compatibility list? I think it checks to see if your computer is capable of running software

A program that alters World Editor allowing usage of more Extensions and using additional compilers.

a Compiler for Jass .. Vextorian Jass Compiler ..

 

5.what does ZINC stand for?

No idea .. dnt think ur talking about Zinc as a metal :P

Memory leak .. is when PC resources gets exhausted for no Apparent useful reason due to repeated usage of a faulty spell or a trigger. ( As far as i know :P )

Not Sure what it means exactly .. but as i understand it's a String that is Written or Run on Game Start

  1. what does w3m stand for? ---> warcraft 3 map, it is the standard extention used for warcraft 3 ROC maps.  (w3x used for TFT)
  2. which year was warcraft 3 released? ---> 2002 originally in the use, some places 2003
  3. what is JNGP and how is it connected to fortress survival ---> the Jass New Generation Pack. a bundled set of extentions to Warcraft 3 World Editor. the de facto standard for warcraft 3 maps development.
  4. what does vJass stand for? ---> VeryJASS, vjass itself is a superset of the JASS2 programming language with advanced abstractions such as object classes, modules, libraries and scopes etc.
  5. what does ZINC stand for? ---> Zinc Is Not C, it is an alternative to the vJASS language. vJASS and ZINC code is compiled by the same software and they can be used interchangeably, most notable change is more symbolic C style syntax.
  6. are you in the fortress survival community chat? --> yes! :)
  7. where does the FS dev team keep its working files? -->  as of when i posted this question it was a shared SugarSync archive.. but cuz they are bitches (and i really miss revision management.. :P ) we migrating to git.

  14. what is a memory leak? how can memory leaks happen in warcraft maps? --> memory leaks as an incident where some RAM is no longer used but is not freed. there are many ways it can happen, mostly:
    • blizzard fucked up the scripthing engine for JASS so it just failes to reclaim freed memory where it should..
    • there is some complex object, (often called a handle type), this consists of a set of data (what the object is) and a pointer( where it is). if you fail to manually destroy the object the memory will never be recycled till warcraft stops. if you fail to remove the pointer then you get most of the memory back.. except... warcraft will think that it still exists so you still lose some resources.
    • The most common/simple to spot cases are when in the trigger code a temporary object is created but not disposed of properly (Location for instance) GUI triggers are often blamed for memory leaks because they obscure the creation of these temporary variables and often use the poorly written standard library ( BJ-functions).

    It enables Ghost bots to send a tiny bit of data to a warcraft mapp by mutilating the player handicap values. used via bot command: !hcl <commandstring> where <commandstring> can have max length of 1 character per player/computer in game.

(it is impossible to read data from a file that is not in a super special format tho). it is allways possible to write files, the registry flag only affects reading.

  19. what do we use JassHelper for? --> JassHelper is a preprocessor for the vJASS language that translates it into valid JASS script.
  20. what is the return bug? --> huge type safety fail that caused warcraft to be vulnerable to all sorts of exploits. many popular maps used it to convert between a handle type (memory pointer) and an integer . the integer is a simple data type u can do math with in JASS. the handle is only used to serve as a reference to something else and not to be done math with. this enabled some horrible exploits so blizzard fixed it and broke a ton of some really awesome map at the time (patch 23 i think it was?)

Think you know a lot about Fortress Survival? Please know that most of these questions apply to 6.42 and all of the various 6.43 betas but some may also  be from previous versions
1. What is the main spawn building called?

2. What is currently the easiest difficulty you can select and how much lumber do you spawn in with when you select it?

3. How many official bases do not have names? Answer with a description

4. What's is currently the smallest base in FS?

5. How can you kill invisible units without any direct damage?

6. Besides the mysterious librarian and woman builder are there any female NPCs/units in the game?

7. What other word that's relevant to Fortress survival can be made with NARJOT and what was the NARJOTs' name before it was changed?

8. To the nearest 100 how many charges of wings of behemoth would it take to fly completely around the map in the largest square formation possible?

9. Who is streets_of_rage and how is he connected with Fortress survival?

10. Including the free tiers how many tiers of wall upgrades are there between barricades and devils braizer? How many between the first and last tier of energy wall?
11. Are fortress defenders stats effected by difficulty?

12. Which air bosses can be polymorphed by wizards? Which ones can not be polymorphed?

18.  What is the longest waiting period between any two official releases of Fortress Survival?

19. Not including boss timers or kills how many global messages are in announced in a game of Fortress survival?

20. Why are you not in the fortress survival skype group?

21. What was the shadow snipers Critical strike ability like before it was changed?

FS Question Answers:

 

1. Basement Passage.

2. Very Easy; 12 lumber (I know for a fact it says that when you win in it).

3. Not many, if you include names like z-88, x-51, and so on; here's your descriptive description.

4. The Hideout, near northern Portal.

5. Spiked Defences.

6. Tyura?

7. Trojan is made from Najort (I forgot to answer this). Relentless Avenger; I couldn't remember the name right away, been so long since really anyone has played those versions.

8. Why do you know this? :P And it's around 1200.

9. streets_of_rage is a donator and a very very large sheep. Some people liked his boss ideas and implemented them (I see tons of people say they're too hard, but they ain't).

10. 20?; 13?

11. Nope.

12. I know Korruption can be, not sure about others.

13. Well this depends on modes, but assuming no air or invisible: 6; if they're on: 7.

14. 19?

15. Regeneration when below 50% HP I think and spiked defences free? Also the ability to cheat the game-ending nuke.

16. 3: Security Room with its quest, Fort Harbor with its quest, and Science Lab I think it's called for increased tower damage.

17. Don't know either, probably over 200. But, why would I, when I generally forget to upgrade them in the first place :P.

18. About two years, six months; between 4.8 and 5.00.

19. Well there's the annoying starting commands and stuff that everyone uses -clear on, player deaths and revives, claiming, unclaiming, and two quest completion messages; so 7?

20. What you talking about?

21. Constant 5% chance, but each level added an extra x to the critical damage; so 5% chance to 20x critical at lv 20.

Actually every base has a 'name' aka a region, sometimes its just not displayed ingame cause dev's are too lazy to change/add the trigger line which displays the hovering text above each base.. the only base which doesnt have a  region is the little base above the harbor and below the torture chamber.
4. The same unnamed base as in 3.
5. Spiked Walls, Passive Nuke
6. Eh.. honestly the various marines could either be male or female, same with most of the enemies, but Tyura has the female Warden model so I guess she's female
7. Najort = Trojan but written backwards; I think the Najort was always the Najort, there werent any other names for him as far as I remember O.o
8. ...? o.O
9. One of the two Super Donators and has his own boss. A custom base was planned as well but that was changed at the last minute
10. Normal Walls = 20 in total so 18 in between the first and last tier
      Energy Walls = 13 in total so 11 in between the first and last tier
11. Not at all
12. Im pretty sure that no air boss has any kind of magic immunity so every one can be polymorphed except Eternia
13. What dwarf said: 6 if air is disabled, 7 if its enabled cause of Hanulla
14. Tent = 4; Camp = 5; HQ = 9 so 18 in total
15. The 'Spiked Bunker' ability which returns 10% of incoming damage. The description of the latest tier also says that the bunker regens health when its hp is under 50% but Im quite sure that that doesnt work?
16. Well tbh most bases since you get free starter units (Including the Boberto / Harbor / Riki & Bara quests, just have to wait a few mins) and that counts as a bonus Imo... but other than that only the science lab
17. 90 secs for both in 6.42, havent played any 6.43 version so Idk whether it was changed
18. What dwarf said, but 4.9 instead of 4.8  :P
19. How many in a whole game? Jeez.. well the "Suggestions? Complains? etc etc" message is displayed every 225 secs, in the beginning there are several ones and another message is displayed at every boss entry. Oh and also the "Prepare to die" messages after a defined amount of time and also almost every command displays a global msg.. its different in every game so how can someone answer that O.o

12.: No idea, the infos I have are from 6.42 and in that ver every air boss except Eternia is polymorphable aka isnt magic immune.

 

16.: Bases like..? Not counting any base which gives the player who claims it a unit like the Harbor / Sec Room / Riki Bara room / Waterfall Base / Garden Eden / etc. Only bonuses which give the claimer something that is not a unit (Like the science lab) counts as a bonus for me in this case cause every claimable unit, whether its a sniper, rocketeer, alchemist or marine would count as a bonus then...  ;)

 

3.: Like I said; almost every base has a name aka a region in NewGen cause its required to make the -claim trigger work for that specific base but its just not visible ingame cause sometimes dev's are just too lazy / busy to implement a new line which creates the visible text so honstly it doesnt count Imo. Of course only dev's who are able to look into the map (Or hackers *cough*) can see whether a base, which doesnt have a visable ingame name, does actually have a region or not.. but in 6.42, every base has a region and therefore a specific name, except the base I mentioned in my post up there^. Or ofc bases which are not really designed as bases like hallways and stuff like that.

Don't know if baneful angel with air and invis enabled is considered an air boss because it does fly... but it's immune to polymorph
